Moral Relativism A glance at the list above might lead a person to think that in the area of morality, the Catholic Church (or at least this particular Catholic web site) is concerned exclusively with topics relating to sex and to the sanctity of life. However, Catholic moral teaching is actually much broader than the list of topics above. But since this is an apologetics web site, and since apologetics is mainly concerned with presenting a reasoned defense and explanation on disputed topics, I have chosen to list only those moral issues on which significant elements of modern society disagree with the constant moral teaching of the Catholic Church. In another time and place, the above list might look radically different. It might contain topics such as theft, or idolatry, or lying, if the society in that time and place were challenging Catholic moral teaching on those topics. In other words, I would contend that the list of topics above is more indicative of our modern society's agenda than the agenda of the Catholic Church. Moral RelativismArticles:

ChastitySome non-Catholics (and perhaps even some Catholics) object to Catholic teaching on chastity in principle, for various reasons. On the other hand, chastity is often a difficult struggle even for those who do accept it in principle. The resources in this section address the second concern (the practical level) more than the first concern (the abstract level), but still both are addressed at least to some extent. Articles:

HomosexualityConventional wisdom in today's secular culture equates attraction to members of the same sex with being "a homosexual" (i.e., living a homosexual lifestyle), and thus it is common for people to hear any condemnation of homosexuality as being a complete condemnation of anyone who experiences same-sex attraction or desire. However, it is important to note that Catholic moral teaching on homosexuality sees a crucial distinction that is too often missed in this equation. Catholic moral teaching does not condemn homosexual desires or inclinations (nor does it condemn persons who have such desires or inclinations), but it does condemn acting on those desires. So often in dialogue on this issue, this distinction is not properly understood, so I wish to emphasize it here. Please check out the resources below for more information on this sometimes touchy topic. Articles:
