Catholic Apologetics Guidebook

~ A guide to the best Catholic apologetics resources on the internet ~

About Me

So, Who Runs This Web Site Anyway?

That would be me.  My name is Paul.  I am a Catholic layman, a husband, and a father, who spends far too much of his limited free time building and maintaining web sites.  ;-)

I first became interested in Catholic apologetics several years ago, as I sought to understand not only what I believe as a Catholic (which I already understood fairly well), but also why these beliefs make sense and are defensible, from the point of view of reason, history, sacred Scripture, and sacred Tradition.  Since then, I have spent many hours reading Catholic apologetics books and web sites, and I think that God has also used apologetics as a path to help to deepen and solidify my faith.

Why This Web Site?

I have had the privilege of engaging in a number of discussions (mostly online) with some very nice non-Catholic Christians, as well as some (also very nice) agnostics and atheists, on some of the religious issues on which we disagree.  As I have participated in these discussions, I have developed a good knowledge of where to find the best resources on certain apologetics topics, for my own reference, or to provide as a link for others to look at.  However, I have often had to hunt for these resources on various apologetics web sites, and sometimes I have had trouble finding a really good article or audio program that I had referred to in the past.  So I decided to build this web site, in the hope that it may be useful to anyone who is looking for a single, quick, comprehensive reference to the best Catholic apologetics resources on the topics that commonly come up in discussions with non-Catholics.

A natural question at this point may be, "who are you to decide which apologetics resources are the best on each topic?"  That's a fair question, and I hope that I have already given a partial answer by mentioning my extensive reading of apologetics books and web sites, and my experience in finding good resources to aid my discussions with non-Catholics.  But ultimately, the answer is that the selection of links on this site is based on my own discernment and opinions, which are based on my knowledge of the Catholic faith and my familiarity with existing apologetics resources.  I hope you will decide that I have done a good enough job to make this site worth bookmarking for future visits.
